Dear Parents:
Just a quick note to remind you that the next two weeks are field trips to:
LACMA-LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART
On March 26th students from Donatello, DaVinci, Cassatt, Chagall, Monet, and
Rivera will go from 10am to 3pm.
On April 2nd the older students will go from 10am to 3pm.
These trips are optional. Attendance is not taken. ALL STUDENTS RETURN APRIL
9. 😉
For the trip:
Please have your student at the Fine Arts building 3rd floor by 10:00. If your
child does NOT have a trip slip, he/she will NOT be able to join us.
Parents are more than welcome to join us! It’s always a great thing when
parents accompany their children to such a great trip AND it also helps us with
the management. 🙂 If you would like to join us at the museum, you can meet
Ms. Lamb and Ms. Mallouf at the front of the museum at 11:00 am. We will cover
all tickets, or you may have your child sign up for a FREE annual pass and they
can get a parent in for free (this is a great deal for an inexpensive family
outing, as well – at a later time). We can NOT accept children at the museum
without their parent. All children with us MUST have a signed trip slip and
MUST ride to and from the museum with us. Please adhere to this rule – it is a
safety and liability issue.
Siblings, friends, etc…. are also welcome to join us AT the museum.
Students bring a sack lunch. I recommend students bring water or juice boxes as
there is no refrigeration for other drinks. There is also a cafeteria, but it
is rather pricey. 🙁 FOVA will help us out in providing some snacks, but
that does not replace a meal. Remember we return approx. at 3pm – it’s a long
time.
We will also be incorporating some time during lunch to take the students to the
gift shop, for younger students, if you would like to give them money please
put in an envelope with their name on it and we will give to student at this
time. I would hate for a child to accidently lose their money and they don’t
enjoy the rest of their trip.
and…. please pick up your children on time. Little ones get nervous when
their parents are not present when the bus arrives at CalState. It is an open
campus – and this is a HUGE safety issue.
Please disregard this next item if your child did not get a packet or you are
unfamiliar with this. This assessment is optional.
On April 2nd, students MUST have brought their signed permission to take the
assessment. Without this, we are not allowed to test your child. They will be
sent home. Please arrive a bit earlier – approx. 9:30 – 9:45. Students will
also be leaving a little earlier, approx. 12:45. Students have questions on
what to include in their portfolio – basically, their BEST work. It should have
been done in the last year. Students in the conservatory typically are not
assessed until they have been with us one – two years. We dothis to give them
the opportunity to build their artistic skills. If they have work from the
conservatory they want to include – YES, please encourage it.
5-7 of their best pieces – no bigger than poster size
use of different media: crayons, markers, water colors, paint, etc…
different types of art: landforms, still life, 3D sculptures, etc…
PRESENTABLE. If your child does not have a portfolio to put their work in,
please have them bring their art work in a folder. Think professional.
And as a reminder, there is no snack selling on this day. Please send your
student with something to eat at break time.
