On behalf of the Friends of the Visual Arts(F.O.V.A) Board, we welcome all returning students and new students and their parents to this year’s session of the 2011-2012 Conservatory of the Visual Arts Program. FOVA is a non profit organization started in 1991 by concerned parents, who like you, are interested in their child’s growth as an artist. FOVA helps supply any needed funds to support this fine LAUSD Conservatory of Fine Arts(Visual Arts) Program that has been existence for 25+ years. FOVA also provides a communication link between the parents and the LAUSD.
The Visual Arts Program greatly appreciates receiving any donations, whether it is money, supplies or services. All the money collected into FOVA goes straight back into providing art supplies, a scholarship and any services that the teacher would like to help your child in his or her endeavor into the wonderful world of visual arts. Note: FOVA is a non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible and upon donation you will be given a donation certificate with our tax ID#for your taxes.
During the year, parents are asked to help out by bringing snack and drinks for the students’ nutrition break. All snacks and drinks at $.75 and nachos at $1.25 each are a great deal for your child. Since LAUSD provides this program to the students at NO cost to the parents, it only seems fitting that the parents assist with providing snacks and drinks four or more times during the school year This year FOVA is requesting that parents also volunteer to work at the snack concession a minimum of four times per school year/twice per semester in addition to donating snacks. Sign up for snacks and volunteering will be available today and every week at the snack concession tables. Every year the budget from LAUSD is less and less, and this year we are so fortunate to not have this program cut, we have to pick up the slack so PLEASE SIGN UP FOR 4 TIMES OR MORE. PARENTS WE MAKE THIS PROGRAM WORK SO YOUR HELP IS CRUCIAL.
Sign up books will be available today for choosing the dates you would like to bring in snacks/drinks/volunteer. We can send a reminder by email a few days prior to your date. The books will be available at the snack area each week to verify dates. We also encourage you sign up on our email list for important messages throughout the year on new information/reminders about the program. We have had parents/students come to class on weekends when there was no art class.
The Conservatory of Fine Arts(Visual Arts)Program each year plans an open house in January or February and End-Of-The-Year Art Show and on during the last class in May 2012, so parent, grandparents, family and friends can see the accomplishments of the students as they progress throughout the year. Each year there will also be field trips & demonstrations for the students to attend.
We look forward to seeing you during the year in the Parent Room(3rd Floor). This room is available to the Parents all year and is used as the meeting room for the FOVA Board and is open to all parents. We need your participation. Remember FOVA is your organization.
Thank you,
FOVA CO-Presidents: Peter Isenberg and Diane Bonfert
